Rail fare increases across UK prompt anger

Help

Rail commuters preparing to return to work are facing an increase of up to 11% in the cost of their tickets.

Regulated fares, such as season tickets, are rising by an average of 6%, but unregulated fares such as advance and business tickets could cost much more.

Operators say they need more money to invest in faster services and better stations, but many passengers say they believe the increases are unjustified.

Daniel Boettcher reports.
