Help

Thousands have turned out for the first of three days of Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh.

More than 6,000 people carrying torches were led through the streets by Lerwick Up Helly Aa Vikings and pipe bands.

Thousands more watched the procession, which ended in a fireworks display at the city's Calton Hill.

Around 80,000 revellers are expected to attend a street party in the city to ring in the New Year.
