There has been violence at Dale Farm as police moved in on an illegal part of the travellers' site.

Not every structure there is illegal - there are 34 homes that will not be demolished.

The part of the site in dispute contains 51 homes for which planning permission was never granted.

It is estimated the eviction process could cost up to £18m. The government has agreed to partly fund the council and police operations.

Kathleen McCarthy, a traveller inside the site spoke to the BBC along with Len Gridley, a local resident whose garden backs on to the Dale Farm site.
