Background to Baha Mousa inquiry

The first public inquiry into British military conduct in Iraq reports on Thursday.

It has been examining how an Iraqi hotel worker, Baha Mousa, was killed in army custody in Basra in 2003.

He had more than 90 injuries, including fractured ribs and a broken nose but no-one has ever been held to account for his death.

A leak to a Sunday newspaper suggested that the report will criticise failings in the chain of command and find individual soldiers and former soldiers guilty of closing ranks and of a dereliction of duty.
