Communities Secretary: 'Looters should be evicted'

The Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, has insisted he thinks that plans to evict rioters from social housing are a good idea.

He said the powers exist at the moment - but councils can apply them only if troublemakers are involved in disorder in their local area.

Mass rioting and looting hit the country on Monday evening following unrest in Tottenham, north London over the weekend.
