UK riots: Swift justice for London rioters in court

Help

More than 800 people have been arrested in London since the riots began on Saturday, leading to a huge number of cases for the courts to deal with.

One of the first people charged over the riots, a teaching assistant at a primary school in south London, appeared before magistrates this morning.

Hundreds of cases like his will be heard in several courts, which are expecting to sit through the night to process as many as possible.

Allan Little reports.
