UK Border Agency accused of asylum seeker 'amnesty'
The government has been accused of creating an amnesty for more than 160,000 asylum seekers, so it could clear a backlog of applications.
In a new report, the Home Affairs Select Committee describes the UK Border Agency as being "unfit for purpose".
It claims many people were allowed to remain in Britain simply because their cases were not dealt with fast enough.
