A new home for my blog

Moving boxes

Welcome to my new home with a new format, new photo, new design but the same old me.

The idea is that you can now find all my stuff in one place: TV reports, radio broadcasts, articles, (soon) tweets and recipes. Actually, I lied about the recipes.

But I hope to be able to serve up a hot and cold buffet of journalism about the United Kingdom (this metaphor is now officially over) and if you'd like to be alerted when something new is added to the menu (sorry) don't forget to add this page to your bookmarks and RSS feeds. And don't forget, you can find all of my old posts here.

Let me know what you think of the changes.

We need Miss Marple

Is it so crazy to suggest that someone looks to see if their neighbour's stolen vase is offered for sale at the local car boot?

Sorry Mark but I prefer the old layout to this new format.

Mark, have a word with management and tell them that due to their swingeing cuts across the BBC Online they now have the capacity to increase this ridiculous character limit.Make it 400 words not characters, that way we get chance to post a decent reply. ;-)

I only get the 1st line of the article in my RSS Reader (Google Reader) Is there a problem? Very annoying if this is deliberate.
For example, in the article on the "North/South divide in social care", it reads "A geographic divide in social care has been revealed by a BBC survey, but why does it exist?" and that's it!

'Kit Green 2 HOURS AGO You may not realise it but BBC pages do carry advertising outside the UK. Therefore you are correct, it is all about page hits'

Cool, do we get a cut? Or at least a rebate? Meanwhile, looks like I've now lost my italics having just learned the last new system. And in referencing another post, what value does 2 hrs ago confer over the time/date? At least the URL's preserved

Just a comment on your article about the North-South divide. I hate the fact that the South West seems completely removed from this discussion. It has very affluent areas but also has very run down areas, and has industries such as mining that have been devastated in recent times. This North-South divide discussion seems to not include us, especially as far as the media goes.
