The Chancellor has recorded a special message for a BBC Radio 5 live presenter wishing her "sweet dreams".

Broadcaster Shelagh Fogarty once admitted to having had an erotic dream about the politician.

"For political balance you need to know that some years before it was Neil Kinnock!" she told her colleague Nicky Campbell on 5 live Breakfast.

In a special message to mark Fogarty's final day on the early-morning programme, George Osborne told her: "I just wanted to say... it does give you more hours sleep every day. More hours for those dreams you've been having."

"I'm sure you'll have sweet dreams!"
