The husband of a woman murdered on her honeymoon in South Africa has been detained in the UK, the Metropolitan Police have said.

Shrien Dewani was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to murder his wife, following an extradition request from South African prosecutors.

Mr Dewani's family have described the allegations as "totally ludicrous".

Anni Dewani was kidnapped and murdered when the couples' taxi travelled through Gugulethu township, near Cape Town on 13 November.
