The way we were in 1981: TV

Television viewers had three channels to choose from: BBC1, BBC2 and ITV. Schoolchildren rushed home to watch Dangermouse and his sidekick Penfold save the world, while Peter Davison took over the helm of the Tardis from Tom Baker in Doctor Who. Comedy debuts included The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Only Fools and Horses, while some familiar faces continued to turn satirical sketches on Not the Nine O'Clock News.
