'Judge is to blame' for Clough murder, say parents

Help

The parents of a nurse murdered by her former boyfriend while he was on bail for allegedly raping her say their daughter's death could have been prevented.

Jonathan Vass was sentenced to thirty years in jail for stabbing Jane Clough seventy-one times in the car park of the hospital in which she worked in July. Several months earlier, he had been charged with raping her nine times, including while she was heavily pregnant with their child.

Penny and John Clough told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire that they want an investigation into why a judge granted Vass bail despite opposition from both Lancashire Police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
