Girl's 'shock' at Facebook party error

A 14-year-old girl from Hertfordshire who advertised a party to everyone on Facebook, has told the BBC that she initially thought she had only invited her friends and was shocked to see it had "gone national", receiving over 2,000 responses within half an hour of posting the request.

The event has been cancelled, but the teenager says she has received 998 friend requests and confirmations from people she does not know.

She told the BBC's Three Counties Radio that she was not aware of a privacy button and unintentionally sent out a request "to everyone", and was alarmed when she received 21,000 RSVPs.
