Strike cripples Underground network

Millions of people who live or work in London have had to struggle to work by road, rail, boat or bike after the first in a series of 24-hour strikes crippled the Underground network.

Unions say every line has been suspended or is running a skeleton service.

Transport for London insists that a third of trains are running.

The strike is over cuts to staff numbers at tube stations.
