Social media has now become so central to the lives of many that if you are not on Facebook, Twitter or texting, you could be missing half the conversation.

BBC Click's Spencer Kelly goes behind the scenes of the TV programme The Secret Lives of Students. The programme charts the lives of 12 students over their first term at Leicester University tracking not just their normal everyday conversations but their exchanges on social media too, revealing a much fuller picture of their lives.
