7 January 2014 Last updated at 06:57 GMT

In-car connectivity is one of the major message from this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Following Audi's lead last summer, General Motors announced that this year its cars would have high-speed 4G data connections built directly into the vehicles themselves, powering dashboard apps.

It said they will be made available for download from an online store.

The BBC's North America Technology Correspondent Richard Taylor took an early look at the technology.
