Jersey's superfast broadband and 4G

Just a few of the 90,000 residents of Jersey are enjoying some of the world's fastest fixed and mobile broadband speeds right now.

Jersey Telecom, the local landline provider, has put 1Gb/s fibre optic connections into a new marina development - that's ten times the fastest speeds available in the UK.

The same firm has also teamed up with the telecoms giant Alcatel to run a 4G mobile trial.

For a short while, Jersey residents can try out the next generation of mobile services via a wireless network from a van parked at the harbour.

This will enable services such as high quality streaming video on the move.

Jersey is hoping that improving its internet connections will help to attract high-tech businesses to the island.
