Virgin launches 100Mbps broadband service

Help

Virgin Media has launched what it is promising will be a super-fast broadband service, with users being offered speeds of up to 100Mbps.

The service, being pioneered in London, the Home Counties and West Yorkshire, is likely to spark fierce competition from rivals Sky and BT.

But with some rural areas only just getting standard broadband now, there are concerns customers in those areas will be left behind again.

Rory Cellan-Jones reports.
