Spike in number of pet hedgehogs across US

Hedgehogs are becoming increasingly popular as household pets in the United States.

They require less maintenance than cats and dogs and are less smelly than rabbits and rodents.

But vets are warning that there are greater dangers than their spikes to be aware of.

Yvette McCullough explains the appeal of these spiny mammals.
