Big picture: The Tarantula Nebula

Tarantula Nebula star-forming region About 160,000 light-years away lies the brightest star-forming region in our part of the Universe, within the Tarantula Nebula. This picture is one of the largest composites ever assembled from Hubble Space Telescope images, and has been combined with data from Eso's 2.2m telescope, released to celebrate Hubble's 22nd anniversary.
