UK team to search for climate clues under Antarctic ice

British scientists in Antarctica are planning to drill into an underground lake, two miles below the ice.

Months of preparation are now under way ahead of their first attempt to send a probe into the waters of Lake Ellsworth next December.

The team hopes to recover samples that could contain new forms of life and provide them with clues about climate change.
