Mild weather causes high numbers of wild flowers to bloom early

Help

Researchers say the unseasonably mild weather this winter has had an impact on the growth of wild flowers, with an unusually high number of plants flowering early.

On New Years Day, the National Museum of Wales found 63 species of wildflower in bloom in Cardiff, including primroses and celandines.

Normally they would expect to find around 20 species.

Sian Lloyd reports.
