Prof Rolf-Dieter Heuer on 'tantalising hints' of Higgs
Scientists say new results from the particle accelerator at Cern in Geneva give "tantalising hints" that the Higgs boson, a sub-atomic particle which helps explain the workings of the universe, does exist.
More work will be need to be done over the next few months in the hope of obtaining conclusive evidence.
Professor Rolf-Dieter Heuer, director-general of Cern, told a news conference that ''extremely good progress'' had been made.
