Late summer heat confuses plants
As most of the UK is treated to temperatures well above the seasonal average, plants and trees in London's Kew Gardens are finding it hard to adjust.
BBC Breakfast's Carol Kirkwood spoke to a botanist at Kew Gardens, Dr Tim Entwistle.
He explained: "The flowers have been tricked into it... they think it's spring again."
The unseasonably warm temperature is expected to continue for several more days in most parts of the UK.
