Dramatic shark catch caught on tape

A fishing trip for two friends turned into a dramatic event when one of them hooked a thresher shark estimated to be 8ft (2.4m) long.

David Saldamado and Scotty Westgaard were out in their kayaks with David's son Eli when the incident took place off the coast of Santa Barbara.

The men escaped injury and the shark was released.
