The man who feeds flies to baby spiders with his mouth

The fen raft spider is not only the rarest spider in Britain but one of the rarest organisms in the UK.

In a project funded by Natural England, the John Innes Centre in Norwich is breeding and studying the species in preparation for releasing them into the wild.

But because infant spiders often eat each other, they have to be housed separately in test tubes.

So how do they eat? Daniel Bedford is employed to suck up flies using a rubber tube and then blow them out into each spiderling's test tube.
