Experiment tests snails' homing instincts
The public are being invited to trail garden snails in a bid to find out whether the shelled molluscs have a homing instinct.
The idea came from gardener Ruth Brooks who got in contact with Radio 4's Material World to find out whether the snails that she was removing from her plants would find their way back.
Dr Dave Hodgson from Exeter University, who devised the experiment with Mrs Brooks, explains how the public can help them find an answer to this question.
