Brentford home for Gloriana?standard
MP for Brentford and Isleworth, Mary Macleod, told Get West London she will write to Lord Sterling, the owner of the royal barge Gloriana, to bring the vessel to Brentford.
Richmond Council has refused to provide a permanent home for the barge.
No Richmond home for Glorianastandard
The 94ft (28.6m) Queen's Barge Gloriana, which was one of the stars of a pageant on the River Thames during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, will not get a permanent home in Richmond, the council has said. A public consultation was held earlier this year.
A statement Richmond Council said: "Though results of the consultation have not yet been fully analysed it is clear a substantial majority of respondents were opposed to Gloriana's permanent home at this site."
Gloriana boathouse proteststandard
Local children will protest next week against Richmond Council's plans to build a £1m boathouse for the royal barge Gloriana on Orleans Riverside Gardens in Twickenham.
Paul Bigley, from Friends of Orleans Riverside, said children will gather for a 'Picture Party' at the proposed site on Tuesday afternoon. Mr Bigley said the plans will "destroy an area of natural beauty and legally protected views" in addition to creating a deep canal next to a playground".
