Spitting and littering crackdownstandard
People could be issued £75 spot fines if caught spitting and littering in Harrow, the council said. The new powers, which come into effect in the new year, follows a petition signed by more than 3,000 people.
Councillor Varsha Parmar, portfolio holder for Environment, Crime and Community Safety, said: "This is not all about enforcement; our priority is to educate and work with the community to ensure that people won't spit or litter in the first place."
