'Remarkable result' for Lib Dems in Eastleigh

Liberal Democrat council leader Keith House has described the result for Eastleigh Borough Council as "remarkable".

The Lib Dems may have struggled in last year's General Election but there were no signs of that in Eastleigh tonight where the party defended all of its 13 seats. The other two Conservative seats were also held.

We've had an absolutely fantastic set of results - 13 holds - which is really remarkable. We have met our pledges - we've cut council tax in real terms every year for 13 years, we haven't cut services, we've invested in our community, we're getting jobs into the area and we're tackling congestion.
