Conservatives' Andrew Bowie holds onto the seat by 843 votes.

Aberdeenshire West & Kincardine: Conservative hold

Andrew Bowie has been re-elected as the MP for Aberdeenshire West & Kincardine, with a decreased majority.

The Conservative candidate beat the SNP's Fergus Mutch by 843 votes, less than half the majority at the 2017 election.

John Waddell of the Liberal Democrats came third and Labour's Paddy Coffield came fourth.

Voter turnout was up by 2.2 percentage points since the last general election.

More than 53,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

One of the four candidates, Paddy Coffield (Labour), lost his £500 deposit after failing to win 5% of the vote.

Eyes are being keenly trained on the count in Aberdeenshire West & Kincardine.

Historically a battle between the Conservatives and Lib Dems, the SNP won this seat in 2015 with a huge 25.9% swing, then lost it to the Tories two years later with a 19% swing.
