A 43-year-old man has appeared in court accused of raping two women and harassing one of them on Facebook.

Peter Millar, from Scone in Perthshire, is said to have assaulted and raped one woman at an address in the town between 1 September and 30 November 2006.

Millar faces a charge of attacking and raping a second woman in Stormontfield between 23 February and 31 March 2011.

Another charge alleges he caused that woman fear and alarm with Facebook messages, texts and phone calls.

He is accused of harassing her between 1 February and 26 November last year.

That charge further alleges that he regularly watched her home and followed her around.

He is also alleged to have shouted and sworn at an address in Scone on 6 December last year, and threatened to kill the first complainer the following day.

Miller appeared briefly in private on a petition at Perth Sheriff Court and he made no plea or declaration.

The case was continued for further examination and he was released on bail.
