Hereford fatal timber spill couple named

A couple who died when a lorry shed its load of timber building supplies in Hereford have been named.

Thomas Matts, 29, and Terri-Ann Barnett, 24, lived together in Broxash Drive in the city.

They were both seriously hurt when the load fell on Belmont Road, on Monday morning. Mr Matts died at the scene and Ms Barnett died in hospital later that evening.

West Mercia Police said the lorry driver had been arrested.

Insp Jim McLaughlin said: "We have arrested the driver involved, which is routine in this sort of fatal collision."

"Two young people have lost their lives and it has had a major impact on our local community."

The accident happened at 1030 GMT when the lorry shed its load close to the railway bridge.
