Bristol has been awarded more than £300,000 of European Union funding for two green technology projects.

The first will develop a model to monitor energy use in public buildings such as schools, with more than 30 partners including computing giant IBM.

The second will develop internet tools to give electric car users information including access to charging points and links to public transport.

The projects, funded by the European Commission, will start in the new year.

The projects are part of the city council's Smart City Programme, which saw electric car charging sites installed in council car parks.
