Beeps: The broadband reversing alarm

The man who helped bring the reversing vehicle alarms to the world cannot stand the sound they make.

Chris Hanson-Abbott gave up his career in shipping in 1976 after spotting a lorry in Japan with a rudimentary reversing alarm.

Three decades on, Hanson-Abbott says the sounds the alarms make are "annoying". He hopes they will be replaced by broadband alarms like this.
