Artist's mission to bring colour to Wainwright sketches
Teesdale artist Andy Beck is nearing the end of a five-year painting marathon.
He is painting a watercolour version of every single sketch in Alfred Wainwright's seven Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells.
He now has about 60 of the more than 1,500 images left to complete and hopes to finish the "Wainwrights in Colour" project by this summer.
The project has involved painstaking work, to plot and then visit the exact Lake District locations depicted in Wainwright's books, before painting full colour versions of the views as they exist today.
