Suzanne Vega on the diner that inspired her
Folk singer Suzanne Vega had a worldwide hit with Tom's Diner - both the a cappella version in 1987 and a dance remix by DNA in 1990. She returns to the Manhattan eaterie where she wrote it to discuss the appeal of the diner with the BBC's Stephen Smith.
America on a Plate: The Story of the Diner is on BBC Four on Tuesday 29 November at 2100 GMT, followed by Barry Levinson's film Diner at 2200 GMT.
