Answers
- It was Frank Bough, who opened the show with the words: "It's 6.30, Monday January the 17th, 1983. You are watching the first edition of BBC television's Breakfast Time." Scott and Ross were also presenters and Harry Secombe was the first guest.
- It was Esther Rantzen, who was pregnant. The other four in the all-star cast were Michael Parkinson, David Frost, Robert Kee and Angela Rippon. Diamond was hired later that year from the BBC and teamed up successfully with Nick Owen.
- It was Reggie. Kevin and Errol were his pals, a gerbil and a hamster. Roland Rat joined TV-am when it only had 100,000 viewers, hence his description as the "only rat to join a sinking ship". But soon there were two million tuning in.
- It was The Channel 4 Daily, with Carol Barnes and Dermot Murnaghan. The Big Breakfast replaced it three years later and promptly overtook the BBC and ITV shows. Morning Glory came later.
- It was Lawler, who presented RI:SE with comedian Iain Lee. The final episode was in December 2003.
- It was the BBC's Moran, nicknamed The Green Goddess. Webb was GMTV's hyperactive fitness guru for nine years, followed by Derrick "Mr Motivator" Evans, who wore every colour. At the same time.
- It's Sunrise Television, a name that was blocked by Sky because of its Sunrise breakfast show . ITV Breakfast became the new official (off-air) name for GMTV in 2009. Daybreak starts on Monday.
