A cat which went missing from its home in Cornwall and previously turned up in Plymouth has gone even further afield and been found nearly 300 miles away in Hertfordshire.

Fudge (pictured) was found in St Albans after apparently jumping into a holidaymaker's van in Newquay in October.

Owner Parisa Jenkins tracked her pet down through its microchip and social media. Fudge is due to be given a lift home by charity workers.

"I'm over the moon. He's 17-years-old but living life to the max," she said.

She added: "Fudge is hard to pin down. He went missing last year and was found two weeks later in Plymouth.

"October appears to be his vacation month."

She is now investigating the use of a GPS tag to keep a track of her itinerant pet.

"We'll see how that goes," she said.

Wizz Air plans to expand operations at its London Luton base, allocating a further four planes to the fleet by June 2018 and opening five new routes.

The expansion will allow the Hungarian-based airline to operate new routes to Cyprus, Slovakia, Estonia, Ukraine and Albania, as well as offer more flights to Israel, Romania and Kosovo.

Wizz carried more than 5.5 million passengers on its Luton routes in the 12 months to October - 11% higher than the previous 12 months - making it the second-largest carrier at the airport.

Village's Christmas lights campaign struggling

A campaign to raise money to buy Christmas lights for the village of Sandridge in Hertfordshire is struggling to get off the ground.

Roy Skippon is asking residents to put their hands in the pockets to help him buy some Christmas lights for their high street. He says he doesn't want Sandridge, near St Albans, to look like it's not celebrating the festive season.

He launched a fundraising campaign online last Tuesday to raise £5,000 but after a week it's had no donations.

His crowdfunding page reads: "As a person who has lived in Sandridge over 10 years we are very disappointed with the local council for not providing any Christmas decorations around this festive period, Bah Humbug.

"Every village or town that I know of has been decorated and ours hasn’t, we would like to raise some money to purchase some lights and decorations to put up during this festive period, we still require permission from Sandridge Parish Council but we hope with the funds we raise we can get something."
