BBC News website readers have been sending us their pictures of events making headlines this week.

Luke Archer sent us this picture that he took of Tony Benn, who died this week aged 88. Benn who famously renounced his hereditary peerage in 1963 told Luke that he had kept a vial of his blood taken at the time, as it was the last of his blue blood.

Eight people were killed following an explosion and collapse of a building in East Harlem, New York, USA on Wednesday. Paula Fredin, living a few blocks from the incident, was woken by the blast and witnessed the aftermath. "The whole house is missing and there is a lot of smoke on the streets."

"People are wearing gas masks to protect themselves from potentially dangerous chemicals in the air," she continues. "Some people are crying. Some people are on the phone with relatives. Police and firemen are evacuating the area."

A blaze on an old pleasure boat kept fire crews in the Dart Estuary in Devon, England busy on Tuesday evening. The boat called the African Queen had been built almost 70 years ago.

Several cities across Turkey saw protests this week over the funeral of 15-year-old Berkin Elvan, injured in anti-government clashes nine months ago. Nate Hovee sent several images of the troubles and their aftermath from Kadikoy, Istanbul, saying the centre of the district quickly resembled "a war zone".

Will Hives took this photo of another fire on Friday evening at the Assembly Rooms in Derby, England. The fire, believed to be accidental, broke out in the car park next to the venue and closed off parts of the city centre.

And finally, among the many photos of the fog received by the BBC this week was this from Martyn Daynes. Martyn took this image of the beach at Margate, England on Thursday evening, he said: "I had just arrived at Albert Terrace to have a beer in the Sundowners Bar, it is very aptly named because one can see some amazing sunsets as J M W Turner found out."
