People have been evacuated from their homes and train services are disrupted, as heavy downpours continue across parts of the UK, causing flooding. BBC News website readers have been sending in their photos. Andy Granger sent us a photo which was taken this morning in Durham.

The photo was sent by Katherine Rigby at Springbank Terrace, Aberdeen. Her partner Derrick Reid tells us: "The tree had just come down two minutes prior to us arriving. Katherine is eight months pregnant, so we're counting ourselves very lucky that the drop off at Nursery took a bit longer this morning!”

Kim Bennett sent this photo of St Andrews: "After a wild night of stormy winds and rain I thought I’d nip down to the harbour on my way to work this morning to hopefully get some photos of the wild weather on the North Sea. There were plenty other photographers there, as well as joggers running along the pier!"
Jonathan captured the flooding in Rothbury earlier this morning. He says: "Rothbury looks like a lake today."

Craig Price from York took this photo and tells us: "I live very close to the river and was aware a boat was sinking. Luckily the owner's weren't on board, I took the pics with around 15 minutes to spare as the towpath is now under water".
Catterick resident Andrew Ritchie sent us this photo and tells us: "The A1 is closed, and traffic being diverted off the A1 at Catterick South, but then it is a complete standstill as the village virtually impassable".

He tells us: "The view is of the flooded River Wear viewed from Millburngate Bridge in Durham city centre, looking towards the Radisson Hotel with the Passport Office on the left. You can see the railings, running through the centre of the picture, that normally mark the river’s edge".
