Crossing the River Wye

As the summer tourist season draws to a close, Wye Valley ferryman and local historian Tony Gardiner explains the attraction of the last hand-pull ferries on the River Wye.

At one time there were many ferries of this type on the river, but now there are just two linking Symonds Yat West on the Herefordshire side of the river with Symonds Yat East on the Gloucestershire side.
