Hospital special measures scheme to tackle failing care homes

16 July 2014 Last updated at 20:38 BST

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has announced a new rating system for care homes that could lead to the closure of those which fail to improve.

The so-called "special measures" system was introduced for struggling hospitals by the Care Quality Commission last year at 11 failing health trusts.

Most of those have since made progress, but at least four remain in special measures.

Dominic Hughes reports.
