Actor David Robb: 'Anorexia kills women like my wife'

14 July 2014 Last updated at 13:57 BST

Downton Abbey actor David Robb, whose anorexic wife took her own life, says people should realise the illness 'kills middle aged women too.'

Briony McRoberts, who became a regular on British TV in Scottish soap Take the High Road, jumped to her death under a train at the age of 56.

David Robb said his wife, who was anorexic as a teenager, developed the illness again after her acting work began to "dry up."

He told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "Anorexia is still generally perceived still, wrongly, as a fad and it will pass. It isn't and it won't."
