14 May 2014 Last updated at 14:08 BST

A retiring GP was "astonished" when hundreds of patients at his Southampton practice queued for up to four hours to say goodbye to him.

Richard Hughes, 60, was so popular that when he announced his plans to retire after 32 years, the surgery opened specially on Saturday so people could say goodbye.

Dr Hughes told BBC Radio 5 live's Victoria Derbyshire: "I was terribly humbled by seeing so many lovely people because they're all as important as I am."
