'Think very carefully before having plastic surgery'

3 February 2014 Last updated at 10:09 GMT

There has been a dramatic increase in the popularity of cosmetic surgery in the UK, according to figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.

The number of nose procedures, face lifts and breast implant operations all soared by more than 10% last year.

The biggest boom was in the popularity of liposuction - up by 41%.

Baaps president Rajiv Grover said people should ''think very carefully'' before opting for cosmetic surgery.

''They are medical procedures, not beauty treatments, and have risks as well as benefits,'' he said.
