Are plain cigarettes packets working in Australia?

28 November 2013 Last updated at 17:05 GMT

Plain cigarette packets could be introduced in England if they are found to discourage smoking.

The scheme is already in place in Australia, where health experts believe it to be working.

Fiona Sharkie, Executive Director of Quit Victoria, said that calls to their helpline had increased once plain packages were introduced.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Up All Night: "Smokers who were smoking from a plain pack found that the cigarettes were less satisfying in taste and experience... than those who were smoking from the coloured packs."
