Hospital discharge delay 'highest in 3 years'

New NHS figures have highlighted the growing number of hospital beds being 'blocked' by patients who are well enough to go home but are not discharged.

Last month the number of days lost to patients who needed the beds was the highest for more than three years, often because of problems putting the right social care in place.

A&E doctors have called it a major cause for concern.
