Smokers challenged to give up smoking for October


Smokers are being encouraged to stub out the habit for good, starting with the month of October.

Research by the Department of Health suggests people who give up cigarettes for 28 days are five times more likely to quit completely.

5 liveBreakfast spoke to Professor Mark Griffiths, a psychologist at Nottingham Trent University who agrees with the initiative, and to Evie Purves, 21, who smokes a packet of 20 every day.
