Fabrice Muamba: Medics are my 'heroes'
Fabrice Muamba, who has just announced his retirement from professional football, has paid tribute to the doctors and paramedics who helped save his life.
The former Bolton Wanderers player was reunited with members of the team at the BBC's 999 Awards.
Muamba collapsed suddenly following a cardiac arrest during a match against Tottenham Hotspur in March.
At the awards ceremony - recorded in July - he received a standing ovation from the audience and said he was doing ok but his recovery was a "long process".
The BBC 999 Awards, which acknowledges the heroic acts people perform on a daily basis, is broadcast on Thursday 16 August at 20:00 BST on BBC One. Or watch afterwards on BBC iPlayer.
